The Erlking Poem/Short Film

Once while I was on the website for the National Film Board Of Canada, I came across a short animatied film titled The Erlking. At the very beginning, it stated that it was based on the poem by Goeth, also titled The Erlking. The short film was a sand-on-glass animation, and played the story of a boy stolen by the "troll" named Erlking from his father while out in a horse-drawn wagon, and the depressing ending in which the father does get his son back...dead. I fell in love with the film.
It was art - cinematic art among the highest levels. So, due to curiosity, I read the poem. It was as dark and unsettling as the film, and I also fell in love with that. You may read below.
Who's riding so late through th' endless wild?
The father 't is with his infant child;
He thinks the boy 's well off in his arm,
He grasps him tightly, he keeps him warm.

My son, say why are you hiding your face ?
Oh father, the Erlking 's coming apace,
The Erlking 's here with his train and crown!
My son, the fog moves up and down. -

Be good, my child, come, go with me!
I know nice games, will play them with thee,
And flowers thou 'It find near by where
I live, pretty dress my mother will give."

Dear father, oh father, and do you not hear
What th' Erlking whispers so close to my ear?
Be quiet, do be quiet, my son,
Through leaves the wind is rustling anon.

Do come, my darling, oh come with me!
Good care my daughters will take of thee,
My daughters will dance about thee in a ring,
Will rock thee to sleep and will prettily sing."

Dear father, oh father, and do you not see
The Erlking's daughters so near to me?
My son, my son, no one 's in our way,
The willows are looking unusually gray.

I love thee, thy beauty I covet and choose,
Be willing, my darling, or force I shall use!
"Dear father, oh father, he seizes my arm!
The Erlking, father, has done me harm.

The father shudders, he darts through the wild;
With agony fill him the groans of his child.
He reached his farm with fear and dread;
The infant son in his arms was dead.

Disturbing, you tell me.  It inspires me to write something like that...so rythmic, so poetic, so dark. You may also see a clip from the short film here, but because NFB.com doesnt allow sharing on blogger, to see the whole thing you will have to go to http://www.nfb.ca/film/erlKing/. Trust me, if you enjoyed the poem, the short film will not let you down. The clip is shown below. I hope you enjoy.

New Theme

I have decided to change up this blog a little bit, as in change the idea. Before, this blog was about horror films and stuff. I have not really found anything to blog about lately in this subject, and if I kept the blog the way it was it probably wouldn't get anymore views. Yep, and that's not something I want to happen. That is the last thing I want to happen.
So, I'm changing the subject of horror film to just...everything horror. This means that I will be posting about horror books, stories, video-games, pictures, videos, film, songs, instrumental horror themes, and everything...horror! That's the best I can explain it. I might even keep you updated on the poetry I write, as long as it isn't stolen. I will upload some poems here that I have written, as some of them are...dark.
So, that's basically it! Oh, did I mention that there will be horror paintings? Sorry, but I love horror paintings. Always have. Art can capture things that words or film can't. See those paintings up there ^? I love them, because they are from a...nightmare that can not be explained. When you have a bad dream that's so surrel and when you wake up you can;t remember the full thing or what really was happening, these paintings are like that.  It's disturbing and scary and bloody...and so astonishing. You probably think I am a disturbed human being because I am saying this but...horror amazes me! It expresses the authour/painter/musicians/etc's true feeling of what horror is, because ever author has his own distinct type of horror (Edgar Allen Poe = madness and horror of the mind, Stephen King = horror withing small town, etc).
So, back to the point. I hope you enjoy my newly updated blog and I hope you are continually updated on my posts.
Bloggers beware....your in for a scareeee...
Mua ah ah ah ahhhh!

Paranormal Activity 3?!

Oh. My. God!
Searching over one of my favourite sites, IMDB, I came across Paranormal Activity 3, which apparently is in production! So, I am going to try and figure out what it is going to be about.
But it's gonna be hard, because P.A took place in late 2006 with Katie and Micah, and P.A2 took place in early 2006 with Katie's Sister and her husband as a prequel. It also happened to have a 12 year old girl (or 13), a dog, and a baby. At the climax, P.A2 continues number one, and the possesed Katie with blood on her shirt steals the baby. So, there is practically no room for a sequel right now, unless the whole P.A3 shows where Katie went, but that would be crap, because this is a horror film, not a sappy adventure film.
Do you know what that means? That Paranormal Activity 3 is most likely going to be another prequel.
Ok, so this poster sais different. Oren Peli, director of #1 and producer of #2 sais that P.A3 should be out in theaters Halloween 2011. So I guess they are more than in production. I can actually now see P.A3 being really good! I did really want to know where Katie went after watching P.A2 in theaters, so this is going to be really exciting for me! Hopefully, it is good.
I'm too lazy to write what I think is going to happen, so you can, in the comments!

A New Begginning

Well, my new blog is in effect.
This just so happens to be the second blog I have established. The first blog I made was titled The Movie Club, please see it at http://ryland-themovieclub.blogspot.com/. That blog featured everything film-movie montages, film reviews, news on upcoming films, etc. It was for the average movie fanatic. This blog is for a more specific audience.
Oh yes, a horror blog. I have always loved horror films, and now I'm putting that love into effect. This blog features everything that my other blog does: film montages, film reviews, news on upcoming films, etc. Now take those and add "horror" before every "film", and you have what is going to be on this site.
So, I would appreciate it if you keep updated on every post and even make the effort to comment on posts or even follow my blog.Then you may go to my other blog, as it is in desperate need of views and followeres and post comments.
Horror fans welcome...muahaha...
